Sonalysts, Inc. is seeking a technical writer with critical thinking and effective communication skills to write and maintain technical documentation for highly sophisticated military equipment. Successful candidates will be key contributors to development of mission-critical technical documentation.
What you will be doing
Responsibilities include writing and editing of technical documentation to support production of technical manuals for the maintenance of developing SONAR, Fire Control, Periscope, and training systems. Individual will be responsible for development of procedures and specification that include the appropriate diagrams and images to convey proper maintenance procedures. Individuals will be required to provide effective communication of proper maintenance techniques to varying audiences.

Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years of experience as a Technical Editor
Ability to translate information derived from multiple sources into technical content for Navy technical manuals
Ability to follow developed style guides outlining required constraints for appropriately documenting technical specifications
Excellent communication skills allowing the ability to interview software developers and systems engineers and translate conversations into accurate technical specifications
Understanding of how to interpret and relay information from diagrams, engineering drawings, notes, manuals, and similar documents
Microsoft Office Suite experience
HTML and XML experience
Understanding of S1000D technical documentation standards
Experience performing system operation and maintenance on Navy systems
Experience working within an Agile development model
